Studying In September

World's worst blogger here, feeling terrible for leaving the site unloved for so long. Had a very busy few weeks trying to say bye to everyone back home and get ready for coming back up to Newcastle. So I thought i'd repay you with a snap from my room. As you can tell I like postcards.It all started with Ikea, they caught my eye with the practicality of them, no need for frames, nails, or a giant print. Simple, collective group of images that are perfect for inspiration. I then found them in Paperchase and i'm always picking up the freebies by the side of tills. There are also 2 from the Tate museum, one from a Damien Hurst exhibition and the other a Tatica Dean. 

There's no need to commit to giant images that are expensive to replace when outdated, perfect for a fashion student needed inspiration quickly and cheaply. The Paris piece is wrapping paper i felt was too cute to ruin with sellotape as is the world map. The painting is an image created by my Nan, very abstract, very colourful and very dear to me.  All in all, my favorite wall in my room, and one that's sure to be useful this coming year. 

At ten am today I was dragged out of bed to meet my boyfriend to go buy stationary. Doesn't sound the funniest but its like being ten again starting a fresh new school year. It certainly kicked in an academic side of me, resulting in organizing my books, notepads, timetables, modules etc. However after several copy and pastes I had a creative kick, hating the fact that a folder had no front cover I resulted in creating the above collage of inspiration. Might give me a good burst when i'm half asleep in a lecture needing to work!

Promise i'll blog more. Promise. 

This is also what happens when you try to bake with a dog at your feet and no muffin tray. Yes they may be wonky and yes they certainly aren't picture perfect,  but they're damn tasty!! 

Suitcase at the ready

So i'm trying to pack as I go back up to university next Thursday and my room is full of new purchases to take with me. However a certain little Puggle is making it extremely difficult! Between watching him to make sure he doesn't jump out the window and trying to remove ever little thing he tries to eat out his mouth, its pretty obviously I haven't done that well. 

So many coats, so many questions...

This time next week i'll be back in Newcastle, back to being a student, back to budgeting, back to basically being skint!

Several things have crossed my mind, but the major one is...I DON'T OWN A WINTER COAT!

I can only dream of every being able to afford a Burberry coat and even at a push the Barbour cape to the left so as my price range drops, so does my variety. 

I could go with a staple Topshop coat, but then look forward to seeing doubles of me all over campus. 

I could customize a primark jacket but then look forward to it falling apart 2 weeks later.

I could order one of asos but then look forward to having to return it as it doesnt look like the picture or is the wrong choice. 

What i'm trying to say is I think this is one of the hardest decisions ever. Scrimp on the cash and i'll be cold and buying a new one every week. Spend and ill be living off beans for months.

Last winter I fell in love with this vintage cape, it was being, plain and simple but I loved it them moment I saw it. However it had a strong vintage smell that wasn't masked no matter how much perfume I used. I even had it dry cleaned twice but it never vanished so last year i lived off a hood. With a love of vintage i'd happily get a winter coat as I'd definatley prefer not looking like a cog in the high street wheel but I can't help but think, is it the easy option?

A lazy day for me includes a ridiculously long walk 

with one dog and a whole lot of 'acoustic-folk-indie-classic-anything with a guitar/piano' songs on the go. Most of these are courtesy of Bliss TV like this gem I've just heard. I'm probably months behind, and I know for sure this won't have been the first hit but its the first I've heard of them. Band called 'of monsters and men' catchy right? They are a 6 piece indie band from Iceland and they are amazing!! 

As their from Iceland, names aren't exactly Ben Smith but definitely worth the extra ten breathes you have to take. The girls voice is very Ellie Goulding/Lissie set against beautiful simplistic guitar rifs and gentle tones of drum and trumpet, it just melts on your ears. 

Touring in 2013, I'm gonna try and get myself a ticket!

and have never been without a fringe I've become obsessed with hair accessories!!

Courtesy of Company Magazines street-style edit a/w 2012 I've found more hair gems. 

Known for never wearing jewelry i find a simple hairband or clip the easiest solution to my lack of accessories. They are certainly helping my 'same style' hair become more wearable and playable. After all, the face is where the moneys at. 

Definitely going to invest in some from 'Crown And Glory' as shown above with their bright colours. Playing up any outfit, especially mine as black is a staple. I've completely fallen in love with the 3-d rose headbands each with super cute names like 'whole lotta rosie, and darling buds of may'.

Lets start at the beginning....

As the first post I probably should give you the DL on me, myself and I.Current student at Northumbria University in Newcastle studying BA(Hons) in Fashion Communication. I'm going into my second year middle of September. Therefore you can probably assume  a load of posts on ridiculously expensive items of clothing i'd long to own or my latest Tesco shop that cost a whole £5 pound. 

Definitely going to be some variety. 
Studying fashion that's obviously going to heavily influence my posts however having grown up with the most awesome music taste thanks to my dad you can expect many music posts, few vinyl shots, maybe even a tape I've found in a charity shop. 

Mostly just gonna go off my latest obsession which seems to be headbands at the moment as my hair is no longer than my jawline so definitely needs accessorizing! Sure to be influenced by graphics, home-wares, shoes, and as you can guess from the title, dogs!  

I'm sorry to anybody reading who owns a cat but i'm definitely a dog person. Mine is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, like Charlotte in sex and the city, and my sister owns a Puggle so you can expect many a shot of the dogs being cute, or stupid or just plain ridiculous. 

This blog is pretty much gonna be another outlet for my thoughts, opinions, likes and dislikes. Not employed [hint to anyone looking for an up and coming fashion student to hire ;)] so all my views are my own and purely there cause I think they'll make an interesting post.  

Just one more way for me to try and find my footing in this overflowing and inspiring industry. So if your wanting cool pictures, undiscovered items, awesome playlists, pretty much just to follow the day to day life of a fashionista/student/photographer/anything else that's creative then you've found the right blog.
